These are the most frequently asked questions.
I hope this page helps, and if it doesn't, just send me a message and I'll do my best to find the answer you're looking for!

"How many sessions do you recommend?"

"Due to being person-centered, I don't recommend a set number of sessions for any client. I have seen clients for 10 sessions, and I have seen clients for over a year. Through starting work together, we will be able to get a rough idea of how long we think we will be working with each other in the room."

"What happens if I'm late to a session?"

"I offer a grace period of 15 minutes to every session. This means that clients can be up to 15 minutes late before the session is cancelled and an offer to reschedule is given. If clients are late, the time is not added onto the end of the session and if they go past 15 minutes their session will not be refunded (subject to circumstance). This gives leeway to life's unexpected happenings such as getting stuck behind a tractor, or a spontaneous laptop update! If you are going to be later than the 15 minutes just let me know and depending on the circumstance, I may wavier the grace period to be longer"

"What happens if I'm early to a session?"

"If you're early to a session, I ask you to kindly wait away from the office until your session time. This is done so that on the off chance someone is late leaving a session before you, that you don't bump into each other at the door. It is also done so someone doesn't bump into you on your way out either. 30 minutes is placed between each session. But it's better to be safe than sorry!"

"What happens if I want to cancel a session and/or reschedule?"

"If you want to cancel or reschedule a session, please do so in as much time as possible. If you cancel before 48 hours' notice, a refund will be given, or you will be offered the chance to put the money forwards to fund your next session. If you cancel or try to reschedule within 48 hours' notice, you will be asked to still pay for that session as it could not be filled in that timeframe."

"What happens if I miss a payment?"

"Payment in advance is one of the methods I use to confirm appointment. If I believe that you have forgotten on a one off, I will remind you and give you the opportunity to fund the session. If you choose not to do this another session will not be provided and the work will end."

"Can I pay cash?"

"Although I prefer for online payment to happen before 7pm the day before - on the odd occasion and dependent on a clients' circumstance, I will accept cash. If I am accepting cash, I ask that it is handed over and put to the side before the session starts. This is only available for face to face clients."

"How will I know if it's working?"

"I weave in reviews around every 6 weeks of work done to check in to see what's going well, if there is anything that could be going better, and if the client is still wishing to focus on the material they are currently bringing to the session. If there are any queries or matters arising, a client can also ask to have a review earlier than the 6-week intervals."

"What can I bring to a session?"

"A glass of water will be provided for you if you are having a face to face session. However, if you wish to bring your own food or non-alcoholic drink, you are free to do so. Likewise, you can also bring sensory items, comforters, photos, poems, etc and anything you think might help you attend, and get the most out of the session. The only time I would ask for these not to be present during sessions is if I believed that they were acting as a distraction."

"What happens if you (my counsellor) cannot attend my session?"

"If I cannot attend your usual session due to a hospital appointment, training, myself being on annual leave/holiday, or any other reason that I would have planned for - I will give you advanced warning (at least 48 hours) and I will offer you your usual appointment for the following week. If I have to cancel short notice due to an emergency or illness, I will provide you with a full refund or the opportunity to push the money forwards to fund your next session. If you are worried about this, I can put together a list of helpful resources and people to contact in between our sessions."
